This simple yet ground breaking idea is expressed not only though the system's evocative name, which is easily pronounced in a variety of languages, and suggests two players side by side, but also through its innovative list of features and extensive list of playable titles.
Wii with Wii Remote. View larger. | A Little Box With Plenty of Power As with every console, much of the buzz surrounds the specs. The Wii boasts 512 MB of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and a slot for SD memory expansion. The system’s technological heart -- a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway" and a graphics chipset from ATI code-named "Hollywood" -- deliver stunning performance. And instead of a tray, Wii uses a single, self-loading media bay that plays both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system, as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Revolutionary Control No bigger than a small traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote is a truly multi functional device. The magic of the Wii Remote's design lies within; acellerometers inside the controller measure movement in all directions and at all speeds. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket as you swing away. In driving games it serves as a steering wheel, allowing you to swerve to avoid obstacles or pickup power-ups. In first-person shooters, it acts as a firearm that you can point directly at an on-screen enemy. The controller also has a force feedback "Rumble" feature and an expansion port for use with accessories, such as the Nunchuck, which adds an analog thumbstick and trigger buttons. The system allows for up to four controllers to be linked at a time and utilizes standard Bluetooth wireless technology. For those who prefer the feel of a traditional controller an adapter is available that fits over the Wii's remote.

Also, Wii utilizes Nintendo's newly-announced wireless feature, WiiConnect24. This worldwide feature allows players to receive content such as Wii Message Board messages sent from other Wii consoles, Miis, e-mails, updated channel and game content, and notification of software updates even while the console is on standby, keeping the fun going even when you are not online. Nothing good after the n64 era Mar 14, 2010 Very few Wii games are good. If you look at the statistics, the vast majority of Wii games are in fact of very poor standard. The only bearable titles are Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. The only game I was addicted to was Mario Kart Wii. Also, the system doesn't support DVD moves. The hardware is also very weak; I'd be surprised if it is even 10% better than the GCN. The controllers use AA batteries and you can't charge them by connecting them to the system.
Not sure what else there is to say.; What game system to buy? Mar 14, 2010 If you're looking for advice on a gaming system, I'll tell you what a teenager told us. If you're looking to buy for a younger child, say over 5 but younger than 14, then get the Wii. But, if you're buying for a teenager, then they're looking into the Xbox. So, there you have it, from the lips of a teen. So, off we went to get the Wii since we old folks could work out with it as well. It has been the best investment! We can use it with the Wii Sports, and the kids get to have a blast with it with the games. It's so easy to use, the setup is easy (an 8-year-old did ours), and well, it's just been a marvelous addition to the gametime in this house. A word of caution, however, be SURE you read the directions. There are warnings enclosed that state things like "Don't play longer than 45 minutes at a time." The Wii can cause seizures in people so be sure you pay attention to that stuff. Other than that, it's great. Highly recommend!

only if you are 7 years old Mar 14, 2010 The Nintedo Wii is not a terrible product, but it is nothing special. The vast majority of the games are made for people under the age of 7. This is not bad if you are looking for a family console but it only does just that. When we got our wii several of the games we got with it didn't work well, not that the games were broken but they were unresponsive even after we adjusted the receiver. It is very hard to play shooter games because of the way the controls are made, like in Call of Duty: World at War, you have to press down B and twist counter-clockwise to throw a fragment grenade. Because you are twisting it is impossible to aim and therefore nearly impossible to use (Whenever I try the grenade ends up blowing my squad to pieces). It is also harder to snipe than on other consoles. Half the time in the middle of an online match you will move to try and find your enemy and it will spazz out for 3-6 seconds, enough time to get shot. If you are going to play shooter games get something else (I play MOH on my gamecube more). Mario Cart however is good. it is great for parties and fun to play contact racing where you can push the person sitting next to you. Sometimes the controller wants you to go another way and no matter how you turn you will go straight into a wall. Wii play is also pretty fun, but I only play tanks, cow racing, target practice, and the fishing game. Im am actually saving to buy an xbox 360 because of better games and graphics. If Your looking for young person/entire family entertainment look no further, but if you want to play shooter games, get an xbox or ps3.
Awsome product Mar 13, 2010 Easy to connect to the T.V. Lots of hours of entertainment. Makes for a fun afternoon. I would recommend buying.
