Poor Quality Battery System Aug 12, 2008
By Chris Beckett
"(SharePoint MCM)"
The drum sticks are comfortable, but heavier than the stock Rock Bank wooden drum sticks (not that I mind that). Inserting the batteries however turned out to be a miserable experience. The instructions say to just insert two batteries in the drum stick ends. What they don't tell you is that there is a thin metal ribbon that runs the length of the battery compartment that needs to wrap around the batteries. If you just shove in the batteries (the way you would expect), the metal ribbon gets crammed into the lighting mechanism and breaks. A neat gimmick but the quality of these sticks is not very good.

Fragile, Poor Quality, and Lousy Feel Aug 24, 2008
By Quincy Cheung Three words: DO NOT BUY. The day I received these drumsticks I drummed three songs with them, and one drumstick is already not functioning properly. The sticks have an LED that glows for about 3 seconds every time they strike something, but one of my sticks now flashes for only a split second. Broken after three songs? Not good.
This is not the only problem I've had with these drumsticks. Each stick is made of two pieces that are screwed together: the base that holds the LED and batteries, and the clear tip that enhances the LED's glow. As I was drumming along, the two pieces would gradually unscrew and I'd have to tighten it maybe every other song, if not every song. This is pretty annoying because it causes the drumsticks to rattle back and forth as you're playing. Overall the sticks have a really cheap feel to them. I get the feeling that if I were to drum really hard that a stick may snap in half.
These sticks are thick and pretty heavy too, especially compared to the stock wooden sticks. I would not recommend anyone buying these sticks unless you want to frustrate yourself while drumming. It's fun to see these drumsticks light up when you play with them, but they are poor quality and not worth the price. I will be returning mine.

decent fun addition to your RB set Aug 28, 2008
By Raidy These sticks are a fun little addition to the rockband setup - When you strike with the stick the lights glow then fade with each strike, so it gives a nice interactive light show when playing drums. They arent overly bright so they dont distract from the game, but they are bright enough to notice.
Unlike the previous reviewer, I didnt have an issue installing the batteries - it came with a clear instruction sheet that shows you have to insert them between the metal clips inside the stick tube.
The overall construction seems decent, but they dont feel indestructible either - I'd be wary of striking with extreme force. They are certainly solid enough for normal aggressive play though, and they are a tad bit heavier than the standard sticks - something to note if you get tired quickly playing the drums.
For $20 this is definitely a luxury item and not a necessity, but if you are really into Rock Band or drumming in general, these are a fun purchase.

Poor quality, not worth any money Sep 16, 2008
By Julia Even with the batteries and such installed properly, I found these drumsticks to be much louder than the sticks packaged with the game. They rattled a little with each hit (and yes, I checked that they were fully screwed together).
Worse yet, after maybe three or four songs of drumming, one snapped in half!
These are a great idea, executed in an incredibly cheap and shoddy manner.

Kinda Fun Nov 02, 2008
By Mark Merrick Okay, so when you strike the drum they get bright and begin to fade immediately until you strike again. They work as advertised and look REALLY cool. The only little problem is the vibration they cause in your hands when you strike the drum. I typically go back to using the wooden sticks because the recoil is a bit rough on a plastic drum stick.
