 Syphon Filter-AWESOME Nov 23, 1999
If you like the single player role playing games, this is the ONLY ONE to play. I just finished it and I was completly addicted. I almost got a divorce! My friends and I were and still are "GOLDEN EYE" freaks in the 4 player mode, but this game has it all for the single player. Fun weapons, good story and Imaginative scenarios. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Very well thought out. Changing of weapons a bit slow, but it doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. I want the sequel as soon as possible! In the mean time I'll get Rainbow 6. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!

 Great Action. Tough Bosses Nov 25, 1999
Overall this game is the best I've bought so far. If you love the sniper-style game, buy this game. The game is well designed to keep play moving. For example, you can only move around in a well-defined area (in most levels) an essentially have to complete on part of a level before you can move on -- trade-off some realism to increase play-ability. The graphics are good, the action is terrific. One gripe: some of the "boss" scenes are absurdly too difficult. To this day, I don't know how I got past Guirdeaux. I can't seem to get past the final screen. Apparently a flak jacket can repel any amount of fire-power. There's some trick to it...not sure what. Even with that, the game is tons of fun...weeks and weeks of play.

Classic Espionage/Action Game Nov 28, 1999
Syphon Filter is a great game for those who like Espionage and Action movies. You play a Government Agent trying to stop a super virus from being exposed to the world. You will venture from the subways of D.C., a Cathedral in Kazakstan, a Muesem, and a Terrorist Base. The level design is well thought out, and the graphics are great. Control is just right, and the soundtrack has some techno-spy music on it. Some missions will require you to blast your way through a compound, others will require you to follow a person undetected. This balance helps to remind a James Bond fan why he/she likes Bond so much. I would even go so far as to say this game is more about Espionage than even Metal Gear Solid. I found myself sneaking around more in Syphon Filter than in that other classic game. Overall, just go out and buy Syphon Filter now, and be prepared to have a lot of free time in order to beat this challenging masterpeice.

I'll say it simply, Syphon Filter ROCKS! I have heaps of playstation games, and this is easily one of the greatest. After I got it, I played it non-stop until the end and I still love it.Many people compare Syphon Filter to Metal Gear Solid, but they must have been playing a different version than I was. I have both games, and I think they are completely different. Sure, in both games your a covert special operations guy, but that's where the similarities end. Metal Gear Solid is based around sneaking, and to get the best rating in the game, you need to do it without killing many people. Syphon Filter is the opposite! While there is still some sneaking, the idea of it is to go crazy and kill everything! One word of advice though, if you do get this game DON'T CHEAT! Seriously, this game is so much better when you don't cheat. You start to run out of ammo, and are forced to use your skills and get headshots, rather than just spraying your ammo everywhere. It is a much better experience!

Syphon Filter is not like the rest. Jan 01, 2000
This game rules. Hands down, the favorite on eI own for playstation. This is why. Although som epeople will blatently disagree I always thought video games were meant for vegging out, and losing yourself to a mind dumbing experience. Which basically means I've always hated video games where you need to think. Resident Evil would be a perfect example. Although I liked the zombies and the gore, I just thought it got annoying that you had to use your brain so much. Anyways what I'm trying to say is this game totally changed my view. The reason is this game makes it fun to have to think. It perfectly mixes a sense of cunning skills with total carnage and violence. This is definitely no game for youngeters but for the older more serious playstation crowd. In any event, this game rocks if you like spy adventures and have any type of puzzle solving skills. Only one simple drawback is that you can't save your game until you've finished each level which takes aprox. 45 minutes to do.
