Used properly, they work fine. Oct 09, 2007
By M. Richardson There seems to be some confusion about what the sports pack is supposed to do. It just adds a plastic extension to the remote that looks nice and gives you a better two handed grip. Yes, when the attachment is in place it does completely block the IR sensor. So you just use the four way key to navigate any menues. The games themselves do not use the IR sensor.
Putting the remote into the shell is easy if you remember to put the front in first, and tuck it under the front lip. Then the back slides down inside the rear lip. To remove it (say, to switch from batter to picher in baseball) just lift by the strap while holding onto the shell, and back the remote out from the front lip.
One thing to remember is that the extension adds lenght to the remote. This means that you need even more room to swing when you use one of them.
Bottom line: they're a nice little addition to make the games a little more fun. They won't change the actual game in any way, they just make waving that remote look a little less silly.

Wii Apr 02, 2007

this sports pack is great for little hands, but if you are an adult hoping for a better grip on your wii controller, this may not be for you. You will need to take your wii controller out of these add-ons often which I can see eventually causing additional wear n tear on your controller which would otherwise not happen. The strap that you usually wear for gameplay will need to be taken off in order to use these to their best capasity. I will say though that this is a neat lil package that my 7 and 10 year old got a kick out of.
The sports pack I got delivered didn't have the golf club- it had a steering wheel instead, so be mindful wich sports pack you order if you really want the club.

the sensor cannot pick up through the bat, club, or racket.
VERY frustrating for the child.

Didn't work May 19, 2007
By Mark Szalay We put the WII remote in the sports holder (Baseball) and couldn't play the game. It didn't pick up the signal. In addition, it is really hard to get the remote out of the holder -- I was afraid I was going to break the remote control. We haven't tried the others -- tennis or golf club. But since they are so hard to remove -- wasn't up for the test yet. Maybe "user error"...but don't think so.

Increases fun factor for kids, wii sports is still the favorite game May 05, 2007

Boo to the negative review about covering the IR sensor. When you play wii sports the IR sensor is not considered in the interaction. I know because I play wii sports with my nephew while I'm across at the other side of the LR.
I'd admit its corny for Adults but for the kids its a blast. Funny thing is that wii sports is still the game of choice when all the kids are visiting. I'd say this product increase the fun factor.
