Better than Volume 1 May 01, 2009
By Leicester Dedlock Although labelled as an expansion, this is a standalone game which is identical to Rock Band except that it has 20 songs. The songs were originally released as DLC (downloadable content), but there is no DLC for the PS2, so we get this.
Song quality:
I'd say the song selection is a lot better than Volume 1. We get great songs like Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Snow ((Hey Oh))", Nine Inch Nail's "The Perfect Drug", and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man". The set list contains a good mix of indie-rock, alternative, new wave, classic rock, and metal. For only 20 songs, it's a pretty diverse set and most of the song choices are very good, especially when compared to Track Pack Vol. 1.
Challenge:
Let's face it, Rock Band was too easy except on drums. Track Pack Vol. 1 had similar problems. That is, it had a few semi-challenging songs on drums, and nothing very challenging otherwise. Here, we finally get a challenge but not on all instruments.
Almost all of the guitar songs are a breeze, but a couple are harder than any of the on-disc songs on Rock Band 1. Namely, I'm referring to Avenged Sevenfold's "Afterlife" and Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Snow ((Hey Oh))". The former is very challenging and took me several tries to pass. The latter is just painful and I have yet to even come close to beating it. To put this in perspective, I've beaten every on-disc Rock Band 1 & 2 song on Expert including "Visions".
Drums are quite the challenge in this game. There are more hard drum songs than hard guitar songs, but there is only one that is truly a pain to play. That would be NIN's "The Perfect Drug". The best word I can think of to describe the drum part is "awkward". It's a fast, offbeat song that will take a lot of practice to pass. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm not that great at drums.
Bass and vocals are much, much easier. "Afterlife" is the only remotely difficult song on bass, and it's still quite a bit easier than the guitar part. None of the songs are very hard on vocals. "Zero" might provide a little bit of a challenge, but only due to broken talkies. Overall, the challenge on bass and vocals was disappointing. I beat every song on sightread which is kind of rare for me.
Bottom line:
It's short but fun with a strong collection of songs. Challenging on drums. Varies from easy to impossible on guitar. Easy on bass and vocals. Still, it's fun overall. Since there's only 20 songs, it may not be worth the money for casual fans, but serious Rock Band players should pick this up. If you're debating between this and the first track pack, get this one.

Rock Band Volume 2 Dec 20, 2008
By Randall E. Bundy
"The big "R""
I always wanted to play the guitar and at 65 years old this is as close as I will get. It feels like I really can play.

Fun but not enough songs Dec 01, 2008
By Ariel I have Rock Band and this is the second Track Pack I have ordered. It is always fun when we first get it, but as soon as we play all of the songs, we lose interest in the game.
I like getting the new songs, so I will continue to buy any future track packs they release for this game, but I really wish they came with more than just 20 songs. You can get through it way too quickly.
Great tracks, fun to play Mar 08, 2011
By Andrew K Track Pack Volume 2 has a great selection of tracks in a wide variety of genres and is a HUGE improvement over Volume 1. Skynyrd, Pumpkins, NIN, A7X? YES!! You don't have to own any of the Rock Band games to play this as this is a stand-alone game. You do need the equipment, but it's compatible with Guitar Hero equipment as well if that's what you've already got. As others have said, the track list is short - only 20 songs - but you can pick it up for less than ten bucks now which makes it worth the purchase.
does the trick, wish they're were more songs though Mar 30, 2009
By sweetpastry89 The game itself is good, felt it was little pricey for the 20 songs you get on it, but other wise it does the same thing as rock band.
