 Makes guitar look cool and quiets the drums Feb 06, 2012

When I first got my Rock Band 2 set with the Rock Band drums (Xbox 360), I loved it but I wasn't too thrilled with "whack" sound made by the drum sticks on the drum heads - even though I crank my home theater system to "11" I can still hear the "whack" which detracts from the experience somewhat. So when I saw this kit at my local K-Mart (of all places!) I picked it up.
The new drum sticks are a little fatter than the original RB drum sticks. The new ones are also made of wood but painted with a glossy black paint with a design on it. Rubber tips are fitted over the normal drum stick tips (you *can* take off the rubber tips if you want to). When playing the RB drums, instead of hearing a sharp "whack" you now hear more of a dull "thud". You also get a better bounce off of the drum head. So I recommend these if you just use the basic drum-kit without the cymbals.
Now, if you use the cymbals, I found a couple of issues. First off, because the cymbals are rubberized, you don't get as good a bounce off the cymbals with the rubberized tips as you do with the bare wood tips. Also, if you're using the original cymbal-kit for RB2, I found that hitting the cymbals at an angle the edges of the rubber tips would catch on the edge of the cymbal and start to pull the drum tips off. This is not a problem on the new RB3 "pro" cymbal kit which hang at an angle instead of straight.
The decal sticker "skin" for the guitar (a purple tiger with glowing eyes) is pretty cool and it wasn't difficult at all to put on (just work slowly and carefully). I've used my guitar with the decal for over a year and it has not worn off nor has it faded like the other reviewer mentioned.
So bottom line is that the decal is pretty cool and the rubberized drum sticks help with drumming on the main kit but is just OK when hitting the pro cymbals.

i love these sticks but the color on them transfers from the stick it self to my hands, if only the colors wouldnt fade i would have given it 5 stars.
A Fun Kit for Rockband 2 Dec 11, 2009

I bought this kit because I have some neighbors who come over to play Rockband with me, and we wanted something fun to add to our controllers. The Drumsticks this kit comes with are larger than the ones that came with the game, and work much better in my opinion (Plus are easy to grip and do not give splinters). The Guitar strap is nice but looks a little cheap, and the guitar facing is like a sticker and difficult to get right the first time. I think it should be a little less money than what it's normally sold for. But if you want something fun to add to Rockband, and you got money to burn, then this pack is for you.
