Rock Band 2 Drums are Awesome!! Sturdy construction, looks and plays excellent...as a drummer of over 20 years, I was concerned about how the drums would function...until I set em' up and played that is...having added the 3 cymbal expansion to increase realism. If you want an in home drum instructor so you can learn how to play drums...you need this RB2 kit!! This is great to give my kids a fun way to learn how to play the drums....I couldn't be more happy about the whole kit and Rock Band 2 set up!!!!!!

Plastics rims should be removed once and for all.Base is VERY VERY unstable,i don't know why they call them "Standalone" drums, instead they should be named "Rocking chair" drums.

This is basically a remake of the Rock Band 1 drum kit with a few changes.
The pads have improved, but not as much. They don't have much bounce when you strike the pad and are still loud. However, if you buy Xcell Pads from rockbandparts . com, you will improve the pads by a LOT.
My biggest issue, however, is the pedal. The pedal sucks. Really bad. It's still made out of plastic with a metal reinforcement plate that fails to protect the hinge. It is nothing like a real drum pedal and find myself getting low scores because of its stiffness, clankiness, and big spring. The worst part is, you can STILL snap it in half. After about a week, the pedal split in half under the plate, but this wasn't a huge issue since the reinforcement plate was there. Then about 2 weeks later, I'm playing Aqualung on Expert and the pedal snaps by the hinge when I get to the fast part. This is a BIG no-no Harmonix. Shame on you for making your pedal out of plastic.
It's wireless so you can move it away from the console and not have to worry about a cord. But it takes 3 AA batteries. So I recommend getting rechargeable batteries prior to getting this drum kit.
Overall: Really needs some improvements. I'm saving money and getting a Rock Pedal and an ION drum rocker.

A great game for families, friends to gather together and have fun, mutual help from each band mate saves other band mates. A game to loose, break the ice between friends, families.
