 A Must Buy for Beatles Fans Mar 11, 2010
Speaking as a hardcore Beatles fan, playing this game is one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had. The gameplay is much simpler than the other Rock Bands, but the most important thing is the songs that you play; there simply are no other songs from the 20th century that are as much fun (even if they are less challenging).
As for the bundle, I think it was a good deal. Paul's bass is beautiful.

Being a Beatles fan but new to the Rock Band games, I purchased this as I wanted the nicer looking instruments. Here is my thoughts after playing the whole game (playing instruments on easy and medium modes, singing on expert).
DRUM KIT (WIRELESS)
I agree with other comments that the pads are very LOUD but it played perfectly fine for me. The drums seem to be harder for me to play well but then that's what practice is for.
HöFNER VIOLIN BASS (WIRELESS)
The Bass looks very cool but as others have said, the neck is really long so I have resorted to playing using the buttons closer to the body of the instrument. I just ordered the Rickenbacker guitar controller so I will update my review when it arrives and I get a chance to play it some. It is right handed but I didn't have a lot of trouble playing it left handed (as one of the trophies requires you to do so).
MICROPHONE
This is just a Logitech wired microphone but it perfoms just fine. The stand makes it nice for singing/playing at the same time and is easliy adjustible for shorter persons.
GAME
The sound clips from the studio/concerts are cool. If you are a Beatles fan, definitely go for the Story mode, it goes in chronilogical order of their career. The drumming fill 'tunnel' to activate your star power has been replaced with a one-note shot to the green pad. Guitar & bass is about the same in that regard. The rewards for 5 stars on songs in story mode are two photos (which are nice). I also have Lego Rock Band (which I play with my 10 yr old) and I like the fact that you can use the points (studs) from the songs to buy stuff in the game.
DIFFICULTY
Expert singing is difficult. I've been able to 5 star a number of songs but have never gotten 100% on any of them. Playing the Bass/Drums on medium doesn't seem to be as difficult as the medium level of Lego Rock Band but it could be due to the songs as Lego Rock Band is closer to the Rock Band series (many different songs by different artists).
SINGING
The biggest change in this game as opposed to the other Rock Band games is multi-singer capability. You can have up to 3 mikes active and sing harmonies or have everyone sing lead and the game will use the best vocal score.
OVERALL
This game was mainly directed towards Beatles fans so if you are one you will love it. If not, I would stick with the regular Rock Band series. There is an online music store where you can purchase other Beatles songs but I have seen others comment about not being able to import to the other Rock Band games so keep that in mind.
SHAMELESS PLUG
If you have younger kids (9 - 12) you may also want to try Lego Rock Band as it has a super easy mode (where you don't have to worry about hitting the correct buttons on the instruments). I've seem reviews where people are critical of it but for my 10 yr old, it helps make the game more fun playing the instruments.

This is my first Rock Band game. Good fun. Even better watching someone else play, you get to see more. Great party game.

If you're a beginer at rock band titles, you will love it. It's very easy to learn on that game.
