Absolutely awful! Jun 13, 2006
By Jaha I would have to say this is the worst controller I have ever used since the old NES wireless days. This controller is pure garbage and Mad Catz should be ashamed for releasing such a worthless product.
I needed a new wireless controller and settled for this one because it was on sale. I now know why it was on sale. The controller itself is extremely low quality. It feels lightweight and cheap. The buttons are delicate feeling and the analog sticks are clumsy. Worse the start and select buttons are close to the analog sticks and have a flush feeling to the controller so it is very hard to press them. Very frustrating if you are playing a game that requires these buttons. Also the R and L buttons are also close together so you may aim to press R1 and actually push R2 as well. Same for the L's.
The biggest complaint I have is the wireless capabilities. This controller has absolutely no range of motion. In fact it is more of a hassle as a wireless than dealing with cords. My old wireless had a sensor you connected to the PS2 and you could play from almost anywhere in the room. This controller has an awkward sensor attatched to a small cord so the sensor basically points at the ground or hangs. The controller is useless at this point as the sensor is a small LED light in the bulky attatchment. The range itself I found to be about 3-4 feet. My couch is about 10 feet from my TV and I could not get a signal at all unless I sat very close to the PS2. So I placed the sensor on a controller extension cord and had it sitting on my coffee table. This was th only way I could get the controller to work. But the most frustrating experience is that if you so much as move the controller away from the sensor for a second it loses signal entirely. I found I had to hold my hands up with the ceter of the controller pointed directly at the sensor for any continuous gameplay. This was horribly uncomfortable as I could not recline or hold my hands in my lap the way I normally game. Also the controller would still lose signal all the time and I would have to hold it directly in front of the sensor for a few seconds to regain it.
Finally the battery compartment is on the underside of the controller and holds 3 AAA's in a triangular pattern. This is odd in all forms of logic. THe triangular compartment makes the underside of the controller annoying and getting the batteries in is a real nuisance. Worse the batter lid has already broken on mine and won't close anymore and I have only had the controller for a couple hours.
About the only good thing I found about this controller was that it had an on/off switch. SOmething not all wireless controllers has so it probably wouldn't kill batteries as fast as some other brands but beyond that this thing is a huge piece of junk. I just threw mine out as the store will not take it back because technically it did work. I will never buy from MadCatz again however.

Run Forrest Run!!!!! Mar 10, 2006
By Warren Stay away from this product. The Quality and design is poor. The battery compartment is a real pain. I don't think I have ever gotten more than 5 minutes worth of continuous play. This is because the RF on the controller or the console keeps going out. (You can tell if either is actually working by the red led on each respective piece.) In short, a very frustrating experience. Save your money and your sanity, and either check out a Logitech or get an extension cable.
CAUTION!!! Aug 01, 2007

The Controller advertised in the picture is NOT the one being sold!!! The actual one is black, bulky, and the reciever is not very practical.
Playstation 2 Micron Wireless Controllers Jul 12, 2007
By S. Palmer I purchased 2 micron wireless controllers for my Playstation 2. They are pretty cool. They are smaller than the normal controllers and are not as well made. They feel kind of small and cheap. However, they do work just fine and I love not having the wires to deal with. Overall, I am very happy with them.
Compact and convenient May 19, 2007
By J. Johnson The controller has great range and can point in any direction while working, but have a few AAA batteries on hand.
