5Hardcore war strategy in the series  Feb 03, 2009 By H. Phan "scavenger lolz"
Overview :
It is Sengoku aka Warring States periods in Japan. The land is in turmoil and it is up to you to unite it.
I suggest going over the tutorial to grasp some basic command of the game. It should took around 45 min to 1 hour depending on how quick you complete it.

Now to the fun part:
There are 3 different mode to play on .
Unification - basically, you can choose any daimyo and conquered the whole land, the best and time consuming of all mode.

Local - same as unification but concentrate on local level like conquered Northern Japan, Southern Japan, and others.

Challege - Complete a certain objective in a given time . There are 2 challenge at the beginning but there should be more challenge unlock once you complete those.

On Unification and Local mode, they have same scenarios but once you complete those, they would unlock more scenario for later period.

Gameplay :
It is insanely hard on hardest mode, even normal mode already hard. Don't expect yourself to go out and capture an enemy castle right away like in ROTK 11(romance of the three kingdoms) which have 3D map and real time battle much like this one. You will lose terribly and once you do, expect bad thing to happen.

Building, so many building and land to build but you must build a district (core building) then you can build sub building. Like if you build a farm, you can build rice paddy, fishery and barrack around it. And yes, you do need lots of rice paddy for provision , also gold is important too.

War, the fun part and also the bad part, you don't carry your own resource when waging war, instead your provision (rice) is in the clan. You wandering around too long, you lose morale = unit destroy once morale reach 0. You also lose provision like crazy, these troops eat rice like a maniac, so make sure you have provision in triple digit instead of double digit like in the start.

Technology, this is the tricky part that doesn't explain really well. You need someone in the clan that have the require attribute from C to S for Archery, Calvary, Siege, Civil ... etc. You would want someone who have S in one and at least B in all so you can build higher tech, otherwise you stuck with your outdated tech. Research higher tech let you gain fame if you are the first to get it and you can request other tech from your ally, however, those allies are stingy about giving up their tech.

Diplomacy, you can negotiate tech, threaten enemy into vassals, alliance, and request reinforcement. Threaten enemy is also impossible so you may as well go conquered them unless your force are overpower them.

And remember, you can never have enough gold, your officer seem to like more gold than being loyal. You don't give them enough, they will be displease and loyal could drop. This isn't like ROTK where you just give them gold or item and shut them up for good. I always ran out of gold after couple years in the game which is quite short compare to ROTK.

This isn't a perfect review nor listing all of its contents, it is just so much compare to the previous installment Rise to Power. The AI here is much smarter than in RTP. Also, real time and turn base is in one big cluster, you just enter O to switch between the two and everything will move smoothly.

It isn't 5 stars game but should be 4.5/5 for fun . If you are a hardcore strategy gamer like me, you may like it but for beginner, it can get really frustrating.

5Digital Crack - If you like strategy games you will be addicted  Jul 01, 2009 By Andrew Dolan "Club Snob"
This game is digital crack for strategy gamers. I picture myself beating old ladies up in the street to take their money so I don't have to work and can play this game longer and longer. It is by far the best strategy game I have ever played. It is simply amazing, especially if you plan the unification mode. It a very difficult game and the AI is very smart and challenging. But be warned you will become hooked. Still buy it!!

5Conquer and unite Japan  Jun 10, 2011 By Daniel L. Patt "RPG Gramps"
Excellant game.Have to put some thought into this one.You have to contend with economy, feeding your troops, weather hazards.attacks from rivals, etc.I originally played this game as a Super Nintendo.Had to have it when I saw it was on Playstation.Enjoyed every bit of it.

4It's what I wanted  May 16, 2010 By Brigg A. Sabol
If you're familiar with the title, you should enjoy this game. It's something that you'll have to play for hours and hours and hours... (which is great!). Like all the reviews (gamespot, game trailers etc) already say, the graphics don't stand out as bad or anything, but really aren't the strong point of this game (read: they're a bit weak). But sho ga nai, that's not really what you are buying this game for anyways. Since the NES 8-bit version, it's always been heavy text turned based strategy game. I played the NES 8-bit version, then I've jumped to this one. I'm happy with it and, will be spending many hours learning the ins and outs and strategy and what not. Recommended!

4Fantastic game for those who enjoy the KOEI strat-sims  Sep 28, 2009 By Christopher Childress "A simple mind"
Anyone who has played the Nobunaga's Ambition series of games knows what an elaborate, complex and beautifully strategic game they are getting into. For those who don't, please read other reviews to get a more general idea of what NA is all about.

That being said, players experienced in the NA series will most certainly be pleased with Iron Triangle. While a new time-lapse system offers a greater sense of time passing and the "iron triangle" approach to technology/culture/might turns some previous concepts on their head, the game in general stays true to the time-tested formula of high strategy and detailed top-down management. Players are likely to also enjoy the new twist on the battle system, which makes the battle field a detailed strategic resource in and of itself. Players who remember Rise to Power will be pleased with the newer, sharper and more colorful graphics. The artwork is also fantastic, with highly detailed portraits and stills, wonderfully era-accurate interiors and architecture, and more detailed models than in previous versions. The soundtrack to this game is gorgeous and never really gets old. One problem I do have is that text in the game can be quite small (even when compared to the previous Nobunaga's Ambition offerings on PS2), and so some words are difficult to read from a distance. The tutorials are extremely effective, and the in-game help system is detailed and generous with information about nearly every aspect of the game. This is a good thing; you'll most certainly be using both tutorials and in-game help to their fullest in order to gain any sense of mastery over this behemoth of a strategy simulation.

This game will provide long-time fans of the Nobunaga's Ambition series a fresh new turn on a game that still offers thousands of hours of game play fun. Newcomers will likely be daunted at first by the game's massive complexity, but once this is overcome the elaborate beauty and flexibility of the game becomes apparent. Simply put, if you like Nobunaga's Ambition, make sure to pick up this new rendition of what has become a respected classic.
