Fun Game, but I'm Still Not Finished with it Yet! Mar 05, 2009
By David Baltazar This review is for;Need for Speed: Undercover
The "Need for Speed" has been a long running series of driving games by EA Sports. As a casual gamer this is my first experience with the NFS series and I'm very impressed with "Undercover". The game features periodical video clips that you unlock as you progress through the game of an agent (who sort of looks like Jason Statham) that goes undercover by participating in various races in a crime ring. His main contact is an agent played by the beautiful & sexy Asian model Maggie Q (from "Balls of Fury").
The game features an impressive array of cars that you can purchase with bounty money you earn by participating in races or designated tasks. Some of the cars are Mustangs, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis and the usual Asian sport cars such as Nissans or Hondas. Cars can be customized with the money you earn by upgrading the performance with upgrades such as engine, turbines, nitrous, chassis, shocks, hoods and rear spoilers. The looks of the cars can also be customized by changing the paint, decals and window tints.
Besides racing against cars other tasks include evading police cars, chasing other cars as a police car, disabling other cars, driving a stolen car to specified locations and gaining points by causing damage to hitting oncoming traffic or by hitting signs/park benches. Some of the tasks get progressively harder as you get deeper in the game, but your cars also get better as you upgrade or buy better cars.
I really like the graphics & sounds of the game. Especially the sounds! Besides the usual engine roar and tire skidding sounds you also hear clear and distinctive police radio chatter when you are confronted by cop cars. Some of the police chatter is kind of funny to listen to. There are also music tracks included or you can customize and add your own music from your memory stick. Neat!
So far my only complaint of the game is the default controls for the nitrous. Usually I only shoot the nitrous during long straight-a-ways, but when you do use nitrous, you have to hold the X-button, L-button and steer with the analog stick at the same which sometimes feels awkward for left-hand steering. This sometimes results in some faulty steering by me when I use the nitrous as I struggle to hold two buttons & steer, but maybe others may not have this problem. Overall, I still enjoy this game very much for my PSP and I recommend it to others.

Fun for PSP but not as good as the PS3 version Feb 21, 2009
By Edward S. Jones The game is fun but does not play anything like the PS3 version. Also the PSP online play does not interact with the PS3 version. Overall it is a good game for the PSP platform

Need for Speed Sep 15, 2009
By I. Kushilevitz The game is a very good game.
The only problem with it is that the PC version is better, and the advertisment in the Amazon site is taken from the PC version. Once you get the PSP version you see it's different....

Hitting the wall Jan 13, 2009

"Big Evil"
Another year, another Need for Speed game; we all know the drill. Instead of basically putting a little new polish on an old title, Need for Speed: Undercover instead finds EA's long running street racing series reverting back to the days when the franchise was churning out tired and boring installments. Undercover follows the same formula we've pretty much seen with Need for Speed: Most Wanted onward, only Undercover hardly has any of the charm, or fun factor, of that game, Carbon, or even Prostreet. The open world setup of the game just comes off as being a pointless feature considering there isn't too much that you can actually do in it. Add to the fact that the city itself just bland, lifeless, and dull. The racing itself isn't too bad though, although it won't take long to get repetitive and just come off as what you've played before in countless other Need for Speed games, albeit done much better and more exciting. The game's soundtrack is decent though, but sadly, the PSP version is loaded with opposing cars that pop-up out of nowhere, plenty of clipping, and a graphics engine that is in need of a serious upgrade. Also, this PSP version features some lengthy load times, which don't help matters here either. All in all, no matter how much of a Need for Speed fan you may be, you more than likely will find Need for Speed: Undercover a bit hard to swallow.

Need for speed has been around a long time and Ive been there since the beginning and all of it's 32 bit glory and this game really stand's up to NFS's reputation.Alot of critics have said that it's the same as all the other's but what do they expect a need for speed fighting game come on it's need for speed there's gonna be cop's and race's.All that said this game's has alot to offer with all the diffrent racing style's and track's I say psp owner's what are you waiting for need for speed fighting.
