Loved this game, when it came out 2 years ago. Jul 15, 2009
By C. Dean I was very excited about this game being released because i LOVED 2008. I skipped buying the 2009 game because i don't see the point in getting a new one every year. So i was very excited about the rosters on this year's games. However, after the first play, i could tell that nothing has changed since 08. The game play is exactly the same, and i didn't see any new moves. I've only had the game for 36 hours, but can tell u that i was disappointed in the lack of changes/graphics. There are a few new features, and some color schemes are different, but as far as the game itself, just not a lot of differences.
I do LOVE this game. I have played the 2008 version ever since it came out, so i still enjoy this game. I gave it 4 stars because it's still a GREAT game. However, i believe that since the PS3 and 360 are the big products now, and PS2 games aren't priced as high, they seem to be neglecting this format, and it's fans, with the new games. They still market these games, without making any changes, because we still are buying them, and they don't have to invest the money in making anything different. That part sucks.

This is the same game as NCAA Football 08 - buyer beware.... Jul 18, 2009
By Richard L. Edwards I should have known that 10 was not going to be any real upgrade, but still bought it. As C. Dean points out, he did not by 09. I skipped 09 as well. C. Dean is spot on. What this tells me is that I am going to have to buy PS 3 eventually, even at $400. Sony is not investing anymore real monies into its PS 2 games and eventually the PS2 will go the way of the Gamecube. In a way I feel robbed, not by the game, because it is good. I just don't want to buy anymore PS 2 games new and yet I don't like going to Game Stop. This game is fun and is good. But it is the same as 2008. Same plays, same moves etc etc etc.

Upgrade from previous versions Nov 07, 2010
By Ryan R. Sargeant I've spent more time playing the 2008, 2009, and 2010 version of this series then I should admit, but there are significant upgrades in each version. In the 2008 version, the receivers drop too many passes, there are FAR too many fumbles, the defenders can't break from from blocks and the linebackers and defensive backs take horrendous attack angles on downfield tackles. Not to make an even longer laundry list, but fouls are ridiculous and the only reasonable solution is to turn off the fouls entirely, which makes onside kicks unrealistic. These problems have been largely fixed in the 2010 version. Defense in general is significantly improved in 2010 and fewer passes bounce off of wide open receivers (unless it's a short crossing pattern... argh!).
2009 was the first attempt to introduce the play simulator and it had a number of problems that were fixed in the 2010 version. Specifically, simulated onside kicks were always recovered by the kicking team, and if a touchdown was scored during simulation and there was a foul, the offensive would get the ball back, but the points stay on the scoreboard. This was fixed in the 2010 version. Simulation was generally improved, but there are still problems with the simulated defense being too good, unless the offense crosses the 50 yard line... if they make it that far, they nearly always score.
I spend most of the time in dynasty mode, and these are all extremely fun and few improvements have been made or are needed. One of the interesting developments has been the lower quality of recruits in the 2010 version (compared to 2008), especially lineman and FB/TE. This causes the computer teams to get worse over time in the latest versions, whereas in 2008, there are still several teams ranked as A+ overall even after 20 seasons.
There are also issues with the NCAA sanctions for player actions. After about 10 seasons, lots (~50%) of teams are on sanctions and the bowl games see the occasional team with a 3-9 record as too many teams are disqualified from post-season games.
I'm guessing the EA Sports is winding down its PS2 games, but based on the differences between 2008, 2009, and 2010, improvements do occur, even if they are minor.
