Some good games, bad controls Nov 12, 2009 I got this collection around the same time I got the Activision Anthology in 2003. It has 60 games grouped into genres, a practical way of doing it (sports, arcade, kids, space and even unreleased) and some interviews as well. The pizza place and arcade games that have the titles adds to retro look and feel. I had Atari in the 80s so most of these games were new to me. At one point, Intellivision raised eyebrows when they released games for the Atari 2600, like Astrosmash, Burger Time and Bump 'n Jump. But the price was right so I figured hey, let me check it out.
There are some flaws. Like other reviewers, I have to agree that the biggest flaw is the controllers. On a lot of games, the controllers are very difficult to maneuver, and slow as molasses. The second flaw is that quite a few games require two players. I remember this and the game prices being the reason I became an Atari fan. I don't have the time or desire to remember patterns and what buttons they match on my PS2 controller. I just wanna play the darn games.
I don't play this disc as often as the Atari, Activision, Namco and Midway ones. I keep hoping that somebody will put out a collection of Colecovision games. I got that as a Christmas present in 1983. You could buy an Atari adapter for it. I was in video game Heaven. It had Donkey Kong, Carnival, Mouse Trap, Time Pilot and other games. I wish someone would put that out. I'd pick that up in a New York minute and have more fun with it than this disc. This package will appeal to all the Intellivision owners, but probably not too many others.

The Intelligent Television Sep 30, 2009 Intellivision Lives! is a retro game compilation featuring over 60 games from the Intellivision system originally released in 1979. The 60 games are divided into 7 seperate categories(SPACE-ARCADE-GAMING&STRATEGY-SPORTS-COMBAT&SORCERY-CHILDREN'S-UNRELEASED). You nagivate inside a place called 'Hal's Pizza'. There is a Jukebox that plays 80's music.
Each game has 5-6 seperate options. These include Play, Instructions, Production Notes, Watch Commercial, View Box, Radical Gameplay Modes. The commercials are unlockables. They are fun to watch(at least for those who remember them). Also included is a section with Programmer Interviews and History of Intellivision; both run about 8 mins.
It can be very frustrating just to get into each game. You need to press the select button just to bring up the original Intellivion pad and then you need to select a bunch of options before the game can begin. This alone will probably turn off a lot of gamers, especially those not used to the Intellivision. You also need 2 controllers for quite a few of the games.
This collection is not as fun for me as some of the others for the PS2. Mainly has to do with the setup time. It was nice listening to some of the synthesized voice games from back then. Also didn't realize that games were still being produced in the late 80's under the INTV corp label. Obviously the graphics are prehistoric, only slightly better than the 2600. But nonetheless this is a historic package and nice to have for those that fondly remember the times.
Stay away from this one!!! Sep 19, 2008 Avoid this game. Most of games in here were made on late 70's. I wouldn't mind how old they are, the thing is they ain't fun at all. Another problem I found also is that a very few of this games in here, you cannot play because you must have someone to play with. Because it requires two controls. If you are looking for those great games that we grown up with. Try Activision Anthology. You won't regret.

Better then owning an Intellivision. Jan 13, 2008 I never owned this system as a kid and to be honest I'm glad, But I'm also glad to have a descent collection of video games for about 6 bucks. So in theory I could say that I currently own an Intellivision System and most of its top games.....
