Darksiders: a weaker version of dante's inferno. Mar 13, 2010 This game is fun don't get me wrong and it has a decent story line, the play style is very similar to God Of War, and nearly exactly the same gameplay as Dante's Inferno. If you enjoy the genre you will enjoy Darksiders.
Best game i've played Mar 09, 2010 I been playing Darksiders for about 5 days now and all i can say is positive things about it. I love the monsters and beautiful graphic this game brings. The story is a little confusing but original and interesting. The box art of this game has to be the best i've seen with the holographic picture on the front. I'm about 3 hours into the game. I rarely play games or i usually get bored and put it on a shelf and forget about it but i can't with Darksiders. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes slight puzzles and hack and slash combat.
Love this game! Mar 08, 2010 I played the demo for this game this weekend. The demo from Playstation is a complete mission which was a lot of fun. This game is great. I plan on buying it today. It is very similar to Devil May Cry 4. I enjoy this game much more than God of War. God of War is good, but the camera view on the game sucks. Darksiders is much better in that sense.

A hack-n-slash with a ton of potential Mar 04, 2010 This game has a lot going for it but failed miserably in execution. The visual is quite nice, but the gameplay is poorly managed. Enemies are too difficult, even at the easiest difficulty setting. The fun dwindles very quickly as the checkpoint system is frustrating since your progress is not saved regularly. I would definitely recommend rent firs and NOT buy.
A Pleasant Mashup of Genres Mar 03, 2010 I've been playing Darksiders for a couple of weeks now and wanted to write a quick review. In short, the game plays like God of War in action and is like Zelda with puzzles and dungeon exploration. Unfortunately, it is not the same caliber as either of those series. It is still quite a bit of fun.
Here's the long version:
-Gameplay
The game is primarily an action game with the main character, War, battling demons both large and small. The game feels similar to God of War, but is simplified to using just a button or two to pull of nearly any move. You have one attack button, no strong or light attacks to combo. Instead combos are built around delaying the button presses, holding the button down or just madly mashing at it. They all work and your enemies will be splatters in no time.
However, this simplification comes at a high price. Strategy, in most battles, goes out the window. I've found that waiting to block and counter takes longer than just smashing enemies. Also, the block button serves as the dodge button, so you can only block while completely holding still.
Finishing moves are also possible, but they've been reduced to a single tap of the O button. It really takes away from the interactivity and makes the player become a spectator.
On the Zelda-esque side, the dungeons are fun, but also really simple. You acquire several items during your journey, but they become obsolete quickly. You solve a couple puzzles with it and then it just collects virtual dust in your inventory. Admittedly, this is often the case in Zelda games, too.
-Graphics
The game looks great, but I get a lot of fps drops. The desert section in particular seemed to challenge the PS3. Screen tearing was also common during large set pieces. The camera could also use some work. It would get stuck between War and a wall in some places.
-Sound
Things sound great, explosive and fun. Voice acting is well done with Mark Hammil reprising his role as the Joker from Arkham Asylum.
-Conclusion
Overall, I like the game. It may be a little weak when compared to the obvious source material, but it works well and it's fun to play. Hopefully the designers learn from this and make an even better sequel.
